After coming back to Canada, my summer has been a whirlwind of adventures never ending. I've only started school and I already feel as if I'm behind school I can't even fathom how much work I need to do for the following months. Just before going to Europe, I went to Epilepsy Toronto's Buskerfest training session and as an activity they asked, "If you were a superhero, what super power would you want?" Initially, I would want to teleport but for some reason I found myself saying "controlling time" and the guy said to me, "you must be a student". Well of course, I am and there's no denying. I wish I had more time to do things, everything is just coming back at me.
Now, let's go through Europe. I went to 3 countries: Italy, Greece, and Turkey; and 7 cities: Rome, Naples, Mykonos, Santorini, Athens, Istanbul, Kusadasi. Here is a quick recap of my top 3 favourite cities:
Rome, Italy - This city was by far the most breathtaking city. It was absolutely incredible! I am still in awe with how much culture and history it has to offer. From the shopping to the museums, Rome was irresistible. We stayed at the Inn Spagna which was just minutes away from the Spanish steps for three nights. I had the chance to visit the Spanish Steps (my absolute favourite place), Colosseum, Trevi fountain, and Vatican City. There was so much more the city had to offer but I just didn't enough time. On another note, I had gotten lost not once but twice alone. The streets aren't grids like here in Canada, every path seems to be a squiggly line all coming together in a plaza to form a star and once you turn your head, your doomed. Let me add that language barriers are not fun either. Nonetheless, I do plan on going back there for my honeymoon! I am in love with this city. I also forgot to mention the food was fantastic! Where else can I get myself truffles on a pizza? And the gelato! What girl does not like gelato?! mmm

Mykonos, Greece - There is no second guessing when your in this little town. By that, I mean when you see a beach, you don't stand around it. You stop whatever the hell you're doing, strip down and jump into the water. I don't know if this applies to everyone but it sure does to me. I have a natural affinity towards beaches and I've never seen some like of those that Mykonos had to offer. I'm a living case and point of stripping down and jumping into the water. Its a funny story, my tour group visited a beach called Kalafati. The instant I saw it, my dress came off (obviously I had a bathing suit, we were in Greece) and I jumped in. It seems no one else had their bathing suit so I was swimming solo. Not to mention, this stopover was only half an hour so I just spent twenty minutes of my time in the Aegean Sea because it is once in a lifetime. The whole city was remarkable and all the Greeks were so friendly. Yiamas Greece!

Kusadasi, Turkey - Despite the heat, the ruins of Ephesus blew me away. All the marble streets, buildings, statues and figures were incredible. Its amazing to see things dating back to hundreds of years ago. The whole placed just breathed culture and history. We also had the chance to see the house of the Virgin Mary. The whole place just lifted a heavy spirit. Let me leave it at that. Shopping in Turkey is also one of the most stressful things to do in my opinion. You have to bargain and its not fun but I don't think you can experience Turkey if you don't bargain. I ended up with a couple of souvenirs but I probably was ripped off because my skills aren't on par. Kusadasi was a great experience.

My trip was a bit dampened due to the fact that I was taking an online Medical Terminology course. I needed to take it so I could get a position in the hospital. It was a 10 week course that I did in 15 days and I'm so damn proud of myself. After taking multiple tests and an interview, I'm overjoyed to say that I landed the position. Everything I did, I put my heart into and it was all well worth it. I'm so grateful for it and it got me thinking, most people have to finish school to land a position such as mine and I am so lucky to have the job. I'm so thankful to everyone who has been supportive throughout the whole application. I also know that hard work and perseverance does pay off.
Over the summer it got to the point where I was so stressed. I was handling 4 jobs and 4 volunteer positions. That is not an over-exaggeration. The four volunteer positions included Buskerfest, Dragon Week, the hospital, and the club at school. The four jobs included the lingerie store, the airport position, network marketing, and the hospital.
Volunteering over the summer has been life-changing. My viewpoint on my life has definitely changed. At Buskerfest we raised funds for Epilepsy Toronto. It wasn't one of the best experiences because it had me constantly looking at the clock and counting down the hours. However, that was my fault because I did do a double shift for the day. It was awfully redundant but it wasn't bad, it was fulfilling. I've been volunteering at the hospital for the longest time, not much has changed, just the same old routine. The club at school still needs its approval! I've been waiting/stalling for months. I think it took me three months to finally get this application right. I'll probably blog about it when it gets approved.
DRAGON WEEK 2012!! It gets its own paragraph. Dragon Week was one of the most life changing experiences for me. It changed my perception of school. I am not afraid to say that I am in love with York University and Bethune College! I am so in love with the dragon spirit instilled in me. Basically, I didn't have the chance to attend my own frosh week so I thought I should become a leader to see what the buzz was all about. I can't get over how much MORE I love my school. We created a family, and I felt like I was a role model and I was inspired by the first years and fellow leaders. I do not regret losing my voice or getting slightly sick. The whole experience was extraordinary. I'll cheer over and over again if its for my school. Bethune kicks ASS! Once a dragon, always a dragon.
I remember just 5 months ago we made an application to be a frosh leader. Personally, I think its incredibly embarrassing but here it is:
Here's the deal, I'm down to two volunteer positions and two jobs and school. I'm happy with my life. I'm probably going to go AWOL on everybody but that's because I'm living. I'm so happy.
